June 20, 2016 . I believe that all Canadians are currently working of repairing the Transcanda Highway right now. Our drive along the northern coast of Lake Superior was filled with stops at one way construction sites. Still, the scenery was stunning and sometimes the wait let us see something new Most notable today was crossing the divide where rivers change from heading toward the Atlantic Ocean to heading toward the Arctic Ocean. We also crossed into Central Time so we're making good progress Double-tap to edit.

June 20, 2016 Thank you Baby Beluga. You kept us dry last night. Roof van alerted us to the fact it was raining. The auto close worked perfect;y! A thunderstorm with brilliant flashes and big booms. So much cozier than a tent. Hot pot worked well this morning. Hot tea and hot chocolate to start off this chilly day
June 19, 2016 Today is Father's Day and I'm missing mine terribly and yet there is something so healing about being close to nature. The lupine today pop up in glorious clusters along the side of the road. They're mostly purple but occasionally a pink or white set of flowers appear. It's just enough to remind you of the variety in nature Our drive today took us along the northern coast of Lake Superior. A whole day of driving and we only made it about a third of the way around. What a huge lake that glacier left behind. We arrived at a campground at our first Canadian National Park. (%61. Not many people are fiwi5int at this time of year. It's almost as if we have our our national park. We baptized our table with the pulled pork were brought along served with Milton's Multigrain Bread - thanks Ange. It works perfectly. Well, perhaps it's a tad too short at it's just about Bono height . Extra vigilance may be required. A short walk after dinner took us out to the shore of the lake. Bono enjoyed playing fetch with the driftwood that lined the beach although he showed no interest in going in for a swim - thank goodness. weather: partly cloudy, mid 80's
Miles: 506 Bug factor: 4 Months of planning, weeks of building, days of packing and we finally locked up the house to begin our 3 month adventure. Here's the plan: -- Drive north into Canada -- Drive west through Canada to Alaska -- Visit some new and some old places in Alaska -- Drive south to Seattle and San Francisco to see the kids -- Drive back east making sure to stop in Arkansas, the last state that Mark hasn't visited. So, how did the first day go? Miles and miles of beautiful farmland. You get the feeling that there aren't people for miles and then suddenly, there's a town with a supermarket, bookstore, Dairy Queen, lumber yard... It was a gorgeous day for the beginning of a trip. Our campsite tonight is a Mew Lake Campground (#78) in Algonquin Provincial Park. We visited this park so many years ago when we bought our first car and drove to see Mark's brother and family in Wisconsin.
